It is a simple recipe that you can make in a few minutes and with few ingredients, which are almost always available in your pantry. - 3 cups Warm water
- 3 cups Precooked corn flour
- 1/4 cda Salt
- 250 gr Cheese of your choice
The first thing to do is to put the warm water in a bowl with capacity to knead comfortably. Add the salt and little by little the corn flour and stir so that no lumps are formed.
Then we proceed to knead with our hands until we get a consistent, soft and non-sticky dough.
Divide the dough into equal parts and roll the dough into balls.
Now open a hole in the dough to place the cheese portion, then close and shape the arepa.
We place a medium high heat on a budare or griddle and grease it, we can cook for several minutes. Turn every so often to cook evenly on both sides.
When the arepas are golden brown and sound like a drum when tapped, remove from the griddle and serve. Enjoy.
